Bottle Tips

New Everywhere Filter:

Boom! This is our new filter using our patented filter media called CoreXchange Technology™. This filter has a replaceable filter cartridge, so don’t throw it away. We designed it this way because there are thousands of potential contaminants in our tap water and we have found that after years of testing and usage, some filtration media are better at removing certain types of contaminants over others. With this in mind, we have designed a layered approach of different types of filter media into one filter. This multi-layered filter will target both tap water (Chlorine, Microplastics, Lead, PFAS, etc.) as well as outdoor water contaminants (Bacteria, Virus, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, etc).

Instructions For Use :

  1. This filter works best when the media has been pre-saturated with water. Remove the filter cartridge (3) from the filter body (1) by turning counter clockwise the straw adapter (2) to the unlocked position. Then remove the filter cartridge by simply pulling the cartridge (3) from the straw adapter (2).

  2. To activate the filter, please soak the filter in a bowl of filtered water for five minutes. If you do not have access to filtered water, please run water over the outside of the filter via your tap. Do this for at least 60 seconds. In absence of both of the options, you can also fill up your water bottle and install the filter the regular way and let the filter sit at the bottom of the bottle for five minutes before drinking. Soaking the filter in a bowl of filtered water is our preferred method.

  3. Fill up your water bottle (leave some room for the filter), connect the filter to straw like you normally do. Drink normally.

Replacing Filter Cartridge:

  1. Pull the filter off of the straw.
  2. Open the top of the filter by twisting the top of the filter counter clockwise. Pull the used filter cartridge off of the straw adapter. Push the new filter cartridge onto the straw adapter. Attach a new filter cartridge to the straw adapter and place into the filter casing. Turn the straw adapter clockwise to lock into place.

  3. Fill up your water bottle, reconnect the filter to straw. Drink normally. Do not tilt the bottle above your head when drinking. Drink the bottle like you are drinking from a glass of water with a straw.

First Use:

Remove filter, straw and package insert from bottle. Set the filter aside for now. Wash the bottle, straw and lid including mouthpiece with a mild detergent and warm water.

Flush Filter:

Remove the filter cartridge from the filter body by turning the straw adapter counter clockwise to the unlocked position. Then remove the filter cartridge by simply pulling the cartridge from the straw adapter. To activate the filter, please soak the filter cartridge in a bowl of filtered water for five minutes. After soaking your filter cartridge, fill up your water bottle (leave some room for the filter), connect the filter to both the straw and the mouthpiece.

Prime Filter:

Take a few quick, strong sips to start the flow of water. Note: first few sips can feel tough to draw in water while the filter becomes hydrated and air is displaced from the filter. Flow rate will improve after continued use.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

  • The bottle, lid, and straw are dishwasher safe after removing the filter.
  • The filter should only be washed with warm water, no hot water or soap.
  • When rinsing the filters, use water only and avoid using soap.
  • For cleaning the mouthpiece, we recommend pulling it from the lid and washing it with soap if you observe any debris or buildup from regular use.
  • Ensure that the inside of the lid is completely dry before reassembling it and storing it after use.
  • To prevent moisture buildup and keep the mouthpiece dry, it is advisable to store the bottle with the handle unattached between uses.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Test your gear before you go! Follow the first use instructions to ensure proper operation of your Epic Water Filters Bottle.
  • Keep the lid and mouthpiece away from contaminated water.
  • Airplanes & Altitude: Due to the airtight design, pressure may build up during air travel, changes in elevation, or high temperatures. To prevent leaks, slowly twist open the lid, for instance when on an airplane, to release the pressure. Retighten the lid before drinking. You may consider only filling your bottle 3/4 of the way before getting on an airplane.
  • If you experience a slow flow rate, blow air through the mouthpiece to remove potential air bubbles and debris from the filter.
  • Check the mouthpiece for excessive dust or debris; clean if necessary.
  • Note: When the filter cartridge reaches the end of its working life, the Epic Water Filters bottle will no longer filter water. If you are unable to sip water through the straw, it is time to replace the filter cartridge.
