Sediment Filter Details

Protect your Smart Shield system and extend its life with the Epic Smart Shield 5 Micron Sediment Filter—designed for homes with high sediment levels or aging plumbing. This easy-to-install pre-filter removes rust, dirt, and debris larger than 5 microns before they reach your main filter, helping to maintain flow rate and preserve water taste.

Perfectly paired with the Epic Smart Shield Direct Connect System (sold separately), this sediment filter keeps your primary carbon block filter focused on removing chemicals, heavy metals, trace pharmaceuticals, microbial cysts, and other contaminants.

Important: This is a pre-filter and is not designed for standalone use. It must be installed with the Epic Smart Shield Under Sink Unit.

Product Highlights:

Extends the life of your main filter system

  • 5-micron spun polypropylene filter
  • Filters up to 12 months or 1,000 gallons
  • Includes 1 sediment filter & tubing
  • 3/8” push-fit fittings (inlet & outlet)
  • Dimensions: 10” L x 2” W

INCLUDES:

Smart Shield Sediment Filter
2 x 16" 3/8 OD Pex Tubing Sections
1 Mounting Clip
1 Size 10 x 3/4 Screw (Phillips)

* Important: Sediment filters only reduce sediment >5 microns. They do not remove chemicals, heavy metals or make the water taste or smell better. This product should not be used as your only filter. Most water contaminants are smaller than 5 microns and will not be filtered out. This product is designed to be used in front of the Epic Smart Shield filter, so water passes through the sediment filter first collecting dirt, rust and debris greater than 5 microns, then the water goes through the Smart Shield which has submicron filtration with a solid carbon block. This will extend the life of your smart shield filter.

    Water tastes great

We live in a small town but the water is horrible. We started using this when we lived in Houston TX. It worked well there and now it works well in the country. Glad we have the filter system.

    Peace of Mind

After our recent move to farm country, we wondered about what might be in our well water. Probably nothing nasty as it’s an artesian well, but who knows? Our pre-purchase water analysis was clean, but it didn’t test for many compounds associated with farming.

First thought was why spend money on a filtration system unless there’s something to filter? Let’s get a broad-spectrum water analysis first. Big surprise! A broad-spectrum water analysis costs around $700! And even it came back clean we’d have to repeat it yearly to maintain peace of mind

After some research we concluded an Epic Smart Shield & Sediment Filter was a much more cost-effective solution.

The Epic system was well packaged and solidly constructed.

Installation was straightforward but for one simple oversight; the heads of provided mounting screws were too large to fit through the clearance holes of the mounting bracket (which means the bracket must in place before installing the screws).

Not an issue if there’s plenty of clearance, but if you have a deep farmers sink intruding into the sink base, and no open areas to either side, driving the provided screws with the mount in place is virtually impossible. (Even a shorty screwdriver is much too long)

I didn’t have any appropriately sized Phillips screws so substituted small hexhead wood screws and a 1/4” ratchet (still a pain in the butt).

Fortunately, the plumbing part is super easy and probably took less than 5 minutes! (Pro tip; as noted in the…

    Great addition

We added the sediment filter to the epic water filter and our water is super clear and no longer has a funny taste. We are very happy!

    Sediment Filter

I have used this in March 2024 and reordered another. I have well (hard water) and find it very helpful and quality of water and improvement quite noticed with use. I feel my water and location in regarding to country and farmer fields may require changing the under sink sediment plus water filter a little more frequently. I have them both and feel confident in trusting the water for drinking and other uses. Thanks Epic. Love your products

    Reduce water flow

We live in NYC so we added the Sediment Filter with Epic, but this reduces the water flow/pressure quite a bit. Seems to be an unavoidable trade-off.
