(I also posted this review on Amazon) First, I did some extensive research into an under sink filter that was not an RO unit. In addition to a reduction of cabinet space and waste flow not making RO a good option for me, I also didn't really have a good place to install a dedicated faucet. I settled on this Epic filter due to its predecessor (Epic Smart Shield), the excellent reviews about the water quality post filter, and the NSF ratings (some Max testing is still pending). In addition, since I was installing this in the kitchen sink cold water line, I was very concerned about the flow rate. I had settled on either this Epic unit or the Clearly Filtered 3 stage and chose this one due to the flow rate. I am very happy to report that the reduction in flow is hardly noticeable if there is one at all (my kitchen sink flow rate is approximately 0.8gpm).
The overall design is 'good' and the only reason I don't say 'excellent' is due to the mounting style. The mounting method is a single slide hole on rear of the housing and is just not a great design. As a product and service engineer, it pains me see such things, but it is what it is. I obviously knew this up front due to my research, so I also knew I was going to make my own mount. After going through several methods in my head, I settled on a custom arrangement that allowed me to attach the fliter housing directly to my garbage disposal using a 1.5" velcro strap and a holster belt clip mounted to the filter head, all…

We only drink Alkaline water. This system has proven to produce water that competes with the flavor of our alkaline water. I am so impressed with the taste and ease of installation. I had a little trouble at first, but it was related to my sink connections not the system.

The initial filter I purchased dropped to almost no water flow within a month. I contacted customer service and they shipped me a new filter for free! Since then, have had 0 problems with it. Absolutely love this product and plan on buying more in the future! Makes a highly noticeable difference in the taste, even in a place like Portland, OR that already has amazing tap water.
