Made in the USA - And Why That Matters
The Pure XP Filter is manufactured in Epic Water Filters' own facility in Palmetto, Florida — not contracted out, not assembled overseas, and not "designed in the USA" with production happening elsewhere.
Vertical integration means Epic controls the entire process: raw material selection, manufacturing, quality control, and final assembly all happen under one roof. That level of control matters in water filtration, where the integrity of every seal, every layer of media, and every material that touches your drinking water directly affects performance and safety. When production is outsourced — especially overseas — there are more handoffs, more variables, and less visibility into what's actually going into the product.
Made in the USA also means shorter supply chains, faster quality feedback loops, and accountability that stays domestic. For a product you're trusting to remove contaminants from your family's drinking water, knowing exactly where and how it's made isn't a marketing detail — it's a safety consideration.
NSF Certified - And Why That Matters
There's an important distinction most water filter companies hope you won't notice. Many filters are marketed as "tested to NSF standards" or "certified to NSF standards" — but that's not the same as being NSF certified. "Certified to NSF" typically means a company hired a lab to test their product using NSF's testing protocols, but NSF itself was never involved. There's no ongoing oversight, no facility audits, and no accountability if the product changes after that initial test.
NSF certified means the product has been reviewed, tested, and approved directly by NSF International — an independent, accredited third-party organization. It means NSF audits the manufacturing facility, verifies the materials used are safe for contact with drinking water, and conducts ongoing retesting to ensure the product continues to meet the standard over time. It's not a one-and-done claim — it's continuous verification.
The Pure XP Filter is NSF certified to Standard 42, meaning it has passed NSF's own rigorous evaluation for the reduction of aesthetic contaminants like chlorine taste and odor. When you see the NSF certification mark, you know an independent authority is standing behind the claim — not just the company selling it to you.
What’s the main difference between the new Pure XP Filter and the old Pure filter?
The Pure XP filter features a completely redesigned media structure for better performance. It offers higher flow rates, improved filtration efficiency, and longer filter life compared to the old Pure filter.
Is the media in the new Pure XP still carbon-based?
Yes, but with a major upgrade. The new Pure XP uses a solid carbon fiber block inner layer and a nanofiber engineered non-woven media with a more open pore structure for better flow, while still maintaining submicron filtration capability.
My filter casing is stuck on the Pure XP
Be sure to have the filter screwed onto the reservoir before attempting to remove the casing. Also, do not pinch or hold where the threads are as this will make it harder to unscrew.
